Bah..Jahh..Noooo

hmm. Scones....mmm...scones. My life revolves around my stomach now. I have no uni. No more exams. no commitments. IT IS BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

After watching hours of Ben's CWA doco and all the lovely pets and their knitted sweaters and cake stalls, i suddenly had an unexplainable urge to eat scones.
here i am remebering this darling little place tucked away in one of Melbourne's antique arcades so on we journeyed to fidn my dreams.

Hurdle one: couldn't find it
Overcome by: visiting the visitor centre and being provided with a map with HAND DRAWN directions
so we find the place. Eagerly topple in to the charming Teahouse and cosy up near the window. (between the old couple and the old flamingos having lunch)
i peer at the menu, giddy with anticipation of having the home-made old school scones with fresh cream and sweet sweet jam. sigh.
hurdle two: THEY RAN OUT OF SCONES!!!! no pumpkin scones. no fruit scones.
Overcome by: just ordering tea
what kind of an institution is this?
so we settle on some tea. thinking that we'd get some killer tea...as it is after all a TEAhouse...
hurdle 3: WE GOT TEA BAGS!!!!!
overcome by: moping

man...this joint both blows AND sucks

so in order to suffice my need for scones we decide to make some on our own. We hit Big W. buy a tray. A spiffy pyrex bowl. and a whisk..all ready for an afternoon of FUN. HA!
we stole a recipe from another brand of tray and schlepped over to safeway to get our ingredients.

everything was going awesome till teh god damn mother f*^&ing cream wouldn't whip. i have develoed RSI after trying to whip that son of a bitch for over HALF AN HOUR. why am i so stubborn?? why?

for more phtotos of our cullinary afternoon see Ben's blog.

You gotta buy the cream that is already whipped! no wrist action needed.
